Family Culture

Family Culture This week I was reading and learning about the culture of families. All families have a different culture, and it affects how the family is run and how they interact. I had never really thought about how much our culture can affect each member of the family and the relationships that the members of the family have with each other. Our family culture is a representation of where family are is and where they came from. We learn from the people around us and where are family are at. In my opinion the family culture is always changing and adapting to the constant changed in our lives.   There was a story that we read and talked about that really influenced me and my respect for the people that leave their countries to try and find better opportunities. There was a story of a family from Mexico, the family consisted of a mother, father, a teenage daughter, and a teenage son. The father had a good job in Mexico and the mother stayed at home with the kids. They decided that th

How Can We Know What is True

How Can We Know What is True   In most professions when they are looking to learn something they will use the scientific method. The scientific method consists of a few different steps that help to make sure their understanding or expectations are accurate. These steps are making an observation, form a hypothesis, carry out an experiment, collect data, analyze results, and repeat the experiment. Doing each of these steps can help to make sure that the things we are learning or observing are correct. One of the steps that I think is so important is being able to repeat the experiment. When an experiment can be repeated it shows that the things that were observed more accurate for most of the population and that it was not just a fluke. It is important to look for these things when you are reading about new information. If you are not able to validate the information with the steps of the scientific method, I would be skeptical of saying that it is true.        In studying social scien

The Family Systems

FAMILY SYSTEMS  One topic that I was reading and learning about this week was the idea of how each of our families are a system and through each member of the system it is able to be sustained. I thought that this was a very interesting and intriguing topic. The family being a system is basically the idea that every member of the family takes on a role that will hopefully benefit and sustain the family's needs. The idea is that the family itself is a whole organization and each member of that family needs to benefit or help contribute to that organization. Each member of the family may take on a different role. I have an example of this is my own family. I am the second oldest of four sisters, so things can get pretty crazy, at our house. Both of my parents worked a lot when we were growing up so a lot of the time me and my older sister would be in charge of taking care of my younger sisters during the day, while my parents were at work. I stepped into the role of taking care of th
